OR Consulting acted as low-carbon building services engineers, acoustic engineers and lighting designers on the exclusive new members club The NinetyThird by Qatar Airways at the O2 Arena.  The club includes several premium bar areas, a fine dining restaurant experience for up to 300 guests and a first of its kind retractable viewing platform which sits 70ft above the arena floor.

The club opens into the Arena and is designed to provide a destination on both event and non-event days. The design accommodates bars suspended at multiple levels to give patrons a unique experience of the Arena and its events.

One of the challenges of this project has been to create flexible specialist lighting, acoustic, environmental and AVIT solutions, to allow the Club to operate during both live events and private functions without detriment to events in the main arena.

To meet these challenges:

• The club’s audio and acoustic design has been designed, zoned and controlled to work as part of the wider Arena’s audio environment and also as a standalone venue.
• The club’s specialist lighting “scenes” has been designed and controlled to work as part of the Arena but also as a series of VIP destinations.
• The club’s environmental systems have been designed to create a micro-climate within the broader Arena.
• A “duct-less” catering ventilation system has been designed to serve the VIP Club, which is one of the first of its kind in the UK.
